Job Title: GIS Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented GIS Analyst to support utility mapping, data conversion, and spatial data management initiatives. The successful candidate will work with GIS technologies, utility network data, and engineering drawings to maintain accurate and reliable geographic information systems that support utility operations and infrastructure management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize ArcGIS, ArcFM, and custom GIS applications to identify, configure, transform, and maintain utility distribution data.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze electrical utility asset information, including one-line diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Create, edit, validate, and maintain spatial and tabular data within enterprise GIS databases.
  • Perform data conversion, digitization, spatial editing, attribute updates, and infrastructure data maintenance activities.
  • Conduct quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) reviews to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies while coordinating with supervisors, trainers, and project teams.
  • Support utility network connectivity modeling and maintenance of networked utility datasets.
  • Track project progress, maintain documentation, and provide status reporting as required.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks while meeting productivity and quality objectives.
  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, and industry best practices related to GIS and utility data management.


Qualifications

  • Technical certification or equivalent education in GIS, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 1–5 years of experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment using ArcGIS.
  • Experience interpreting electrical utility drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, transmission plans, and profile drawings.
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, utility network connectivity, and infrastructure mapping concepts.
  • Knowledge of utility engineering specifications, drafting standards, and design techniques.
  • Familiarity with current GIS technologies, tools, software applications, and data management practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Natural Resources, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with ArcGIS 10.x and ArcFM.
  • Experience maintaining and supporting networked utility datasets.
  • Knowledge of utility industry standards and GIS data governance practices.
