Job Title: General Laborer – Ingot Casting Line Operator

Job Description

This role supports the safe and efficient operation of an ingot casting line in a heavy industrial environment. You will operate production equipment such as furnaces, densimeters, forklifts, and spectrometers, while monitoring process parameters, maintaining accurate records, and helping train less experienced team members. The position requires strong attention to safety, quality, and productivity, as well as clear communication and a commitment to continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the ingot casting line and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate the densimeter to monitor and verify material properties as required.
  • Work at the pour station, ensuring the ladle is filled and maintained at the proper level during casting operations.
  • Perform furnace charging by measuring material levels, operating furnace controls, and charging material according to specifications.
  • Use calculation methods and interpret scales to weigh materials accurately in both pounds and kilograms.
  • Operate and monitor furnace exhaust systems, including damper and door controls, to maintain proper ventilation and process conditions.
  • Understand and operate pump controls to support the flow and circulation of materials.
  • Monitor and interpret RPMs and amperes related to circulation and material handling to ensure equipment operates within proper ranges.
  • Perform material handling tasks, including skimming and preparing materials for shipping.
  • Carry out furnace tapping using proper techniques to safely unplug and plug the furnace as needed.
  • Operate forklifts to move materials, ingots, and equipment safely around the facility.
  • Operate spectrometers, milling machines, and sanding machines to support quality control and finishing processes.
  • Maintain and monitor accurate operational records, logs, and documentation for production, quality, and safety.
  • Assist in training and directing other inexperienced team members on equipment operation, safety practices, and standard procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and team members regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and productivity standards at all times.

Essential Skills

  • Experience performing general labor duties in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating machinery or production equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to understand furnace controls, pump controls, and other industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and use scales to weigh materials in both pounds and kilograms.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following procedures and using proper techniques for furnace tapping and material handling.
  • Focus on quality, with the ability to follow specifications and use inspection equipment such as spectrometers.
  • Ability to maintain productivity while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with management and team members.
  • Positive behaviors toward others, including teamwork, respect, and reliability.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and continuously improve performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in general labor, machine operating, forklift operation, or construction work.
  • Experience operating spectrometers, milling machines, sanding machines, or similar equipment.
  • Experience working with furnaces, casting operations, or metal processing is beneficial.

Per Diem/Travel Information

  • 7-Day Per Diem, $150/day

Shifts Available - 3x2x3 Schedules

6:00am - 6:00pm

6:00pm - 6:00am

Work Environment

Employees will work around furnaces, casting lines, and material handling equipment, including forklifts, densimeters, spectrometers, milling machines, and sanding machines. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, requiring adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate protective equipment. Work may involve standing for extended periods, exposure to heat and noise, and handling materials throughout the shift.

This is a Contract position based out of Troy, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
