🎯 Why This Role Exists
This is not a traditional engineering role. It's a hybrid: 50% heads-down technical work (writing evals, integrating with customer systems via SDK/API, browser automation) and 50% customer-facing (sales calls, presentations, white-glove client interaction with C-suite). Think: fractional CTO who runs AI safety certifications for the biggest names in agentic AI. The current person in this role is a multi-time CEO who handles 3+ clients simultaneously with extreme ownership.
What You'll Do
• Deeply familiarize yourself with each customer's agentic AI product.
• Integrate with their system — SDK, API, browser automation, whatever it takes.
• Design and create 500–10,000 evaluation tests per engagement based on AIUC's risk taxonomy.
• Execute tests, judge outputs, package results, and present findings directly to customer engineering leadership.
• Handle 3+ clients simultaneously, scaling to 10+ within 6 months.
• Optionally join early sales calls to build trust with technical credibility.
✅ Must-have qualifications
• Software engineering background — mid-level equivalent at a good company.
• Startup or entrepreneurial experience — founder, co-founder, founding engineer, or early-stage CTO.
• Customer-facing experience or strong demonstrated interest.
• Polyglot — Python primary, but adapt to TypeScript, APIs, SDKs, browser automation.
• AI-native — actively uses and builds with Claude Code, agentic workflows.
• Thrives in chaos — early-stage "everything is on fire" environments.
• Mission alignment — genuinely cares about AI safety, not just TC-maxing.
