Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

I am currently partnered with a privately owned chemical company who are looking for a Controller & FP&A Manager to join its finance team and support a capital-intensive chemicals manufacturing platform.


This role combines accounting ownership, including the monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls as well as forward-looking FP&A responsibilities including forecasting, budgeting, performance analysis, and capital evaluation. The Controller & FP&A Manager will partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership to deliver both reliable historical financial information and actionable forward-looking insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical accounting foundation with deep working knowledge of US GAAP, including areas relevant to manufacturing (inventory and standard costing, fixed assets, leases, revenue recognition).
  • Demonstrated ownership of a full monthly close cycle in a manufacturing or asset-intensive environment.
  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting abilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex modeling and large dataset analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (Sage X3 strongly preferred); ability to identify and drive system or process improvements.
  • Experience coordinating external audits and working with tax and audit firms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High degree of organization to manage competing close-cycle and forecasting deadlines.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 6–10 years of progressive experience spanning accounting, controllership and FP&A; prior public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a close while also producing forecasts and board-level analysis.
  • Manufacturing, chemicals, or other asset-intensive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
