Job Description

The Field Installer assembles and installs security gates and fencing on new construction and retrofit projects, including data centers and government facilities. This role works on active construction sites, using hand and power tools to build and install secure perimeter systems according to project specifications and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install security gates and fencing on new construction and retrofit projects.
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and written instructions to complete installations accurately.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to cut, fasten, and assemble materials.
  • Assist with fence assembly and related construction tasks on active job sites.
  • Measure, align, and secure gate and fence components to meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare work areas, including unloading materials and organizing tools and equipment.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Collaborate with site teams and supervisors to complete installations on schedule.
  • Support work on data center and government projects by complying with site access and security requirements.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and functional condition.
Essential Skills
  • 1–2 years of experience in construction labor or construction fencing.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently on active construction sites.
  • Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, levels, and measuring tools.
  • Proficiency using power tools commonly used in construction and fence assembly.
  • Experience with fence assembly and installation tasks.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints or basic construction drawings.
  • Capability to obtain access to government sites in accordance with site requirements.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and handle materials and equipment on construction sites.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and secure installations.
  • Reliable work ethic with the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working on data center or government construction projects is beneficial.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
  • Willingness to learn additional trade skills, including welding.
  • Comfort working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to adapt to different job sites and project requirements across the region.

Work Environment

This role is based on active construction sites, including data center and government projects, across the DC metro area. Field Installers work primarily outdoors and must be comfortable in a variety of weather conditions and on uneven terrain. The position involves frequent use of hand and power tools, regular lifting and carrying of materials, and standing or moving for extended periods. Work follows typical construction schedules, which may vary by project, and requires adherence to all on-site safety rules and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment as directed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walkersville, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
