Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Family Law Attorney based in Greater Houston. The Family Law Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in cases related to family law, including but not limited to child custody, divorce, property division, and spousal support. Daily tasks involve preparing and filing legal motions, conducting legal research, drafting agreements, attending depositions, and representing clients in court proceedings. The attorney will work collaboratively with clients to develop legal strategies and provide expert advice throughout their cases.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Family Law and other legal issues related to family matters
- Proficiency in preparing legal motions and drafting legal documents
- Experience in depositions and courtroom advocacy
- Strong research and analytical skills for handling legal cases
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively represent clients
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Current license to practice law in the state of Texas
- Prior experience in family law practice is highly preferred
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment
Duties
- Represent clients in family law matters such as divorce, child custody, visitation, and support cases.
- Conduct legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and court filings with precision and clarity.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide support on complex legal issues.
- Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions effectively to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Manage a caseload involving a variety of family law cases.
- Prepare for and appear in court proceedings, hearings, mediations, and depositions.
- Maintain detailed case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide clear legal guidance throughout the process.
- Stay current on developments in family law and related legal fields to ensure the highest quality of representation.
