Estimator

The Encompass Group is partnered with a well respected heavy civil and utility contractor based in Alexandria, Virginia that is looking to add a seasoned Utility Estimator to their growing team. For decades, the company has built a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic region for delivering high-quality sitework, underground utility, and civil construction projects with integrity and precision. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility and civil/sitework projects
• Perform quantity takeoffs using digital estimating software
• Review plans, specifications, and contract documents
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Participate in bid strategy meetings and proposal preparation
• Coordinate with project management and operations teams for project handoff
• Support value engineering efforts and cost analysis
• Optional: Represent the company at networking events and industry functions

Qualifications

• Civil construction estimating experience (general construction experience considered)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes
• Proficiency with PlanSwift (preferred), HCSS HeavyBid, and Agtek
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work full-time in the Alexandria, VA office
• Preferred: Experience in underground utilities and broader sitework
• Preferred: Interest in business development and networking
