Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position located in Livingston, NJ, for an Estates & Trusts / Business Attorney. The attorney will carry an active caseload spanning both transactional and litigation matters, including:

  • Drafting and advising on wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and comprehensive estate plans
  • Managing probate and estate administration proceedings in New York and New Jersey Surrogate's Courts
  • Advising trustees, executors, beneficiaries, and fiduciaries on rights, duties, and risk management
  • Handling contested estate and trust matters, including fiduciary litigation and will contests
  • Counseling business clients on formation, operations, transactions, and dispute resolution
  • Managing employment law matters including counseling and litigation support

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced boutique environment, brings strong client communication skills, and is comfortable managing a diverse docket with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active Bar license in New Jersey required; New York licensure strongly preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in estates, trusts, and/or business law; Surrogate's Court experience a significant plus
  • Proficiency in drafting estate planning documents, trust instruments, and corporate/transactional materials
  • Litigation experience, including motion practice and court appearances, preferred
  • Familiarity with digital asset estate planning and emerging issues in AI and posthumous data rights is a distinguishing advantage
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; client-facing confidence required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously
  • Collaborative team player who embraces technology, including practice management and AI-assisted legal research tools
  • Commitment to client service, ethical practice, and continuous professional development
