About Tractable

We’re building LUMA, a drive-through vehicle inspection scanner that combines multi-camera capture, active illumination, and multiple sensor modalities to generate high-fidelity vehicle imagery and measurements.

We have an opening for an Electro‑Mechanical Assembly & Test Technician that will assemble production units at our SLC facility.

Core responsibilities

  • Install electrical hardware (relays, power distribution units, GFCI outlets) on the scanner frame following wiring diagrams and safety codes
  • Mount and secure electronic sub‑assemblies: embedded compute, USB hubs, PoE switches, sensors and machine‑vision cameras
  • Route, label and strain‑relieve cabling; torque and mark fasteners to spec
  • Flash firmware and run scripted diagnostics on cameras and compute modules
  • Execute final functional tests by driving vehicles through the scanner and logging image/sensor data; troubleshoot and document anomalies
  • Complete QA checklists in the MES system and sign off units for shipment
  • Partially disassemble, foam‑wrap and crate systems for domestic and international transport
  • Provide feedback to engineering on build pain points; suggest fixture or kitting improvements to shorten assembly time and improve quality
  • Maintain an ESD‑safe bench and follow IPC‑A‑610, OSHA and company safety practices

Minimum qualifications

  • 2+ years electro‑mechanical assembly, field‑service or technician experience
  • Able to read basic electrical schematics, wiring schedules and mechanical exploded views
  • Proficient with hand tools, torque drivers, crimp/ferrule tools
  • Basic computer literacy: can use Windows/Linux command line to run scripts or update firmware
  • Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided for test passes)
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders or scissor lift when routing overhead cabling

Preferred / nice‑to‑have

  • IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD‑001 certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
  • Experience with USB3/GigE cameras, industrial sensors or machine‑vision systems
  • Familiarity with Python or shell scripting for test automation
  • Forklift certification and/or experience packing large technical equipment
  • Exposure to lean 5S or ISO‑9001 production environments
