Electrical Controls Engineer

Full Time Direct Hire

Salary is ~$95-120k

~20% Travel


Required:

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on controls engineering experience
  • Strong Siemens background: TIA Portal, PLC, HMI, drives, and safety systems
  • Experience with S7-1200/1500, ET200, SINAMICS, Profinet/Profibus/Profisafe
  • Ability to read and create electrical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting skills (software, hardware, and network)
  • Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and drives
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Able to pass background and drug screening

  • Industry 4.0 / Smart Manufacturing exposure
  • Robotics experience
  • Packaging machinery background (not required — automation is what matters)


Software & Tools:

  • Siemens TIA Portal, S7 Manager, WinCC Flex
  • S7-1200 / S7-1500 PLC programming
  • SINAMICS drive configuration
  • WinCC (Comfort / Advanced / Unified) HMI development
  • Profinet / Profibus / Profisafe
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)


Responsibilities:

  • This role owns programming and system-level controls
  • Design control systems and write programs for industrial packaging machinery
  • Work across 4 core machine models plus custom modifications
  • Modify and improve existing programs; maintain archived systems and documentation
  • Act as project lead while supporting cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers throughout builds
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and drives using Siemens TIA Portal, S7 Manager, and WinCC Flex
  • Design Profinet networks and integrate ET200 I/O, safety systems (Profisafe), VFDs, and sensors
  • Execute FAT/SAT; debug hardware and software; tune drives and motion systems
  • Support machine startup and commissioning
  • Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, I/O lists, and functional specs
  • Provide remote and onsite training and troubleshooting support
  • Support proposals and technical discussions with customers and vendors
  • Follow ISO and internal quality standards; apply Lean principles
