Job Title: Electrical Assembly Apprentice – 2nd Shift
Job Description

This role offers a structured Electrical Assembly Apprentice Training Academy that prepares you to assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and switchgear systems. You will learn to read and interpret point‑to‑point wiring schematics and diagrams for 480V, 120V, and 24V systems, and gain hands-on experience with crimping, pulling, terminating, and installing UL panels and sub‑assemblies. After successfully completing the training, you will work in a dedicated cell unit on 2nd shift, performing electrical assembly and real-time testing of customer-specific equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and perform mechanical and electrical builds of customer products following detailed specifications.
  • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and switchgear systems with a focus on 3‑phase power distribution.
  • Pull, route, crimp, install, and terminate wiring using point‑to‑point schematics and diagrams (480V, 120V, 24V).
  • Use tools such as multimeters, wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, and other hand and power tools to complete assembly and testing tasks.
  • Perform real-time point‑to‑point testing to verify accurate wiring, proper terminations, and the integrity of wire routing and housing.
  • Perform part replacement on tools and equipment as needed and according to the established maintenance schedule.
  • Resolve routine questions and problems independently and escalate more complex issues to higher-level technicians or supervisors.
  • Work under direct supervision with frequent review of output to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including updating panel layouts, labels, and records as required.
  • Follow manufacturing protocols, standard work instructions, and lean production principles to support efficiency and quality.
  • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including visual aids, diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Ensure the assigned work area remains clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
  • Comply with and follow all procedures within the company’s security policies and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate with teammates to organize and execute tasks that require multiple team members, working effectively in small group teams.
  • Communicate with inventory personnel to keep them informed of spare parts inventory levels and locations to support timely order fulfillment.
  • Participate fully in the two‑week training academy, including classroom and hands‑on lab work, and meet performance expectations and grading requirements.
  • Apply proper techniques for labeling wiring, adding ferrules, crimping, terminating, landing wiring, and aligning wiring in panels for clear tracing.
  • Consistently adhere to professional conduct expectations during training and on the production floor.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and team goals.
Essential Skills
  • Basic electrical wiring or electrical assembly experience preferred.
  • Strong initiative and motivation to learn an electrical trade through an in‑depth training academy.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a production environment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability and desire to learn to interpret blueprints, graphs, and electrical schematics relevant to industrial control panels and assemblies.
  • Comfort working with hand and power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, and torque wrenches.
  • Capacity to follow detailed written, verbal, and visual instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift following completion of the training academy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Interest or experience in electrical assembly, panel wiring, control panel building, or industrial electronics.
  • Exposure to or interest in reading electrical point‑to‑point schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electrical testing methods and the use of multimeters and related test equipment.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, production, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Basic understanding of soldering or electronic assembly processes is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams of technicians within a cell‑based production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in labeling, routing, and organizing wiring within panels.
  • Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established protocols and procedures.

Work Environment

The role begins with a two‑week on‑site training academy held in a classroom-style lab environment, where you will learn safety practices, electrical wiring fundamentals, standard protocols, and point‑to‑point reading and labeling techniques using both paper-based materials and hands-on exercises. During training, you will practice using tools to add ferrules, crimp, terminate, and land wiring, as well as align wiring in panels for proper tracing. Expectations mirror a professional training or classroom setting, with a focus on attentiveness, professionalism, and adherence to conduct guidelines. The initial training schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. After training, you will transition to 2nd shift, working Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The production environment is extremely clean and temperature controlled, with electrical assembly work performed at cell stations featuring large, organized work areas. Teams typically consist of 5–7 technicians per work cell who collaborate to assemble units according to customer specifications. The company supplies all necessary tools and materials, so you do not need to bring personal tools. Dress and conduct are expected to be professional and appropriate for a clean, safety-focused industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
