We’re hiring a Director of Preconstruction to lead and elevate preconstruction efforts across a growing national design-build platform.
This role will oversee estimating, budgeting, and early-stage project strategy, working closely with development, operations, and executive leadership to drive successful project pursuits and execution.
- Lead all preconstruction activities from initial pursuit through GMP, including budgeting, estimating, value engineering, and bid strategy
- Partner with business development and leadership teams on pursuits, client presentations, and overall go/no-go decisions
- Oversee and mentor preconstruction staff, building out a strong, scalable team structure
- Collaborate with operations and project management to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to construction
- Manage subcontractor relationships, bid leveling, scope coverage, and procurement strategy
- Drive cost accuracy, risk identification, and schedule alignment across multiple concurrent projects
- Work across a diverse portfolio including industrial, commercial, cold storage, and adaptive reuse projects
Compensation:
$180,000 – $230,000 base salary + bonus + full HDV benefits paid for by employer, 401k, PTO, ESOP
What we’re looking for:
- 10–15+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management within a GC or design-build firm
- Strong background in industrial and/or large-scale commercial construction
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex pursuits
- Ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level
- Strong client-facing presence and communication skills
