Flowtec is partnered with a commercial GC in the Detroit market that’s been operating for 30+ years and has built a strong reputation delivering complex, high-profile projects.
Operating as both a Construction Manager and General Contractor, they work across commercial, healthcare, education, civic, and mixed-use sectors. Their typical project range falls between $20M and $200M, supported by a steady pipeline of negotiated and repeat business.
This role reports directly to the Vice President, sits on the senior leadership team, and oversees a preconstruction group of 5. You’ll own the full process from early budgeting through GMP and turnover, while also playing a key role in client strategy and pursuits.
Responsibilities
- Lead estimates from conceptual through GMP on projects ranging from $20M to $200M
- Manage the full bid process including subcontractor outreach, scope leveling, and proposal assembly
- Drive preconstruction efforts from early budgeting through construction documents and handoff
- Partner with ownership, clients, architects, and engineers to guide cost and delivery strategy
- Lead cost presentations and GMP discussions with clients
- Build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships across the market
- Mentor and develop a team of estimators and preconstruction staff
- Stay involved through buyout to ensure alignment between preconstruction and operations
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience
- Experience leading projects $20M+ (larger project experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of delivery methods including CM at Risk, Design-Build, GMP, and Lump Sum
- Comfortable leading client-facing conversations and internal teams
- Strong technical knowledge across building systems and cost structures
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $165,000 – $185,000, depending on experience
- Annual incentive plan with a 10% bonus target
