Our client, a highly respected and growing museum of contemporary art is seeking an experienced Director of Operations for a direct hire role in West Midtown Atlanta, GA.
This role is mostly onsite with one day a week working from home.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations is a senior executive responsible for the internal "engine" of the company, ensuring that daily activities, systems, and personnel align with the mission. While the Executive Director typically focuses on external strategy and fundraising, the Director of Operations manages the infrastructure that makes that mission possible.
Core Responsibilities
The role is broad, often encompassing several key functional areas:
- Financial Management & Budgeting: heavily weighted, business contracts, insurance policiesDeveloping and monitoring annual budgets and financial reports.
- Overseeing accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and the annual audit process.
- Ensuring fiscal prudence and identifying operational efficiencies to reduce costs.
- Human Resources & People Operations:Managing recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.
- Developing and implementing employee handbooks and personnel policies.
- Governance, Compliance & Risk Management:Ensuring the organization adheres to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Maintaining corporate records, board documentation, and organizational policies.
- Developing safety protocols and emergency preparedness plans for facilities and staff.
- Strategic Leadership: - very important.Translating the organization’s long-term strategic plan into actionable operational goals.
- Evaluating program effectiveness using data and metrics to inform future strategy.
- Leadership: Experience managing, supervising, and training staff is essential.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s Degree Preferred.
- Experience: 7 to 10 years of experience in operations, museum operations, or nonprofit arts.
- Must be highly experienced in senior management, with financial planning, Human Resources, operational, administrative, and change management experience.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an office and throughout the museum facility and grounds. Traditional 40-hour workweek, with some night and weekend hours as needed. Hybrid work arrangements may be available, but are limited to 1 day/wk.
Salary $85,000 - $95,000 Final determination of salary will be based on an evaluation of experience, education, budget, etc.
