Role Overview

Mackenzie Stuart is currently partnered with an Ophthalmology group that are searching for a Director of Nursing. The Director oversees all clinical operations of the facility, ensuring high‑quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role partners closely with the Medical Director and Governing Body to manage nursing services, staffing, scheduling, quality, risk, safety, and compliance across the center.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Leadership

  • Direct and supervise nursing care across all clinical areas
  • Coordinate patient care, surgical scheduling, and physician block utilization
  • Ensure adherence to clinical standards, policies, and licensing/accreditation requirements
  • Act as liaison between clinical staff, physicians, administration, and governing bodies
  • Support and participate in patient care as needed


Staffing & Human Resources

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development
  • Maintain licensure, certifications, training, and personnel documentation
  • Develop and manage staffing plans and schedules in alignment with surgical volume
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and professional clinical culture


Quality, Compliance & Risk

  • Serve as Compliance Officer, Quality (QAPI) Coordinator, Risk Manager, Safety/OSHA Officer, and Privacy Officer
  • Develop, implement, and oversee programs related to quality improvement, compliance, safety, risk management, HIPAA, and infection control
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, CMS, OSHA, and accrediting‑body regulations
  • Lead incident reporting, root cause analysis, and performance‑improvement initiatives
  • Report findings and recommendations to leadership and Governing Body


Financial & Materials Management

  • Share responsibility for clinical services’ fiscal performance
  • Oversee supply chain, inventory management, pharmaceuticals, and equipment
  • Drive cost containment, waste reduction, and efficient resource utilization
  • Approve invoices and monitor supply and labor costs


Physician Credentialing & Contracted Services

  • Oversee physician and allied health credentialing, privileging, and peer review
  • Ensure providers practice within approved privileges
  • Manage contracted clinical and facility services (e.g., pathology, housekeeping, equipment maintenance)
  • Maintain documentation and address service deficiencies


Qualifications

Required

  • Active, unencumbered RN license (Colorado)
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years perioperative experience
  • BLS and ACLS certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • Strong leadership, ethical judgment, and communication skills


Preferred

  • BSN or MSN; healthcare administration degree
  • ASC leadership experience
  • PALS certification
  • Strong computer literacy (EHRs, Microsoft Office)
