PointFlow Companies is an Edmond, Oklahoma-based group of oil and gas software, consulting, and advisory businesses serving independent operators across the mid-continent and Gulf Coast. With a growing client base in Houston and Austin, we're establishing a Houston presence and looking for an IT Director to serve as our on-the-ground technology leader for Texas clients.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own infrastructure, data systems, and client-facing technical delivery across multiple O&G operating companies simultaneously — working directly with company founders and client teams. The right candidate is equally comfortable drawing a system architecture and running a SQL query.
What You'll Own
- IT strategy and roadmap across multiple O&G companies, each with distinct tech environments and client obligations
- Infrastructure — servers, networking, VPN, cloud/on-premise hybrid, endpoint management, and DR
- Data platforms — SQL Server, ETL pipelines, reporting, and integrations with O&G systems (ARIES, iWell, Quorum/ODP, Petra, Enverus)
- Cybersecurity — email security (DMARC/DKIM/SPF), endpoint protection, incident response
- Vendor and MSP relationships, licensing, and procurement
- Client-facing technical delivery for Houston and Austin operator clients
- Business systems oversight including ERP, accounting software, and field data integrations
Who You Are
- 7+ years in IT leadership, infrastructure, or systems management — meaningful O&G experience required
- Deep familiarity with O&G production and accounting software (ARIES, Quorum, iWell, Petra, or comparable)
- Strong SQL Server background — DBA, ETL design, stored procedures, performance tuning
- Proven ability to manage multiple companies or clients simultaneously
- Experienced with hybrid environments — Azure AD, Windows Server, VPN, on-premise infrastructure
- Solid cybersecurity fundamentals — threat triage, email security protocols, network segmentation
- Hands-on: you fix things yourself
- Clear communicator — able to translate technical decisions for non-technical executives and clients
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Nice to Have
- O&G production data, well surveillance, or land systems experience
- Python or PowerShell scripting for automation and data workflows
- Power BI or comparable BI/reporting platform
- Prior MSP, consulting, or multi-client environment experience
Compensation
- Total Compensation: $150,000+
- Equity can be earned
