About the Role

The Development Associate will be responsible for supporting the execution of luxury residential projects across our portfolio, working on assets from deal inception to pre-development through completion and close-out. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standards of design, quality, and financial performance, consistent with the firm's reputation for excellence. Development Associate will report to the Development Director.

WREI has a multi-decade track record in real estate and is currently led by Joe Jacobs and Phil Braunstein, with a geographic focus on Florida and the Sunbelt. The firm’s investments are concentrated in multifamily, condominium, and senior housing, as well as select commercial assets. Since 2011, WREI and its principals have invested in excess of $900 million of equity.


Key Responsibilities

• Participate and eventually lead involvement across the full development lifecycle for residential and mixed-use projects

• Support deal sourcing, underwriting, and due diligence during acquisition, including preparation of development budgets, schedules, and feasibility analyses to inform investment decisions

• Manage design, entitlements, permitting, and consultant coordination for complex developments

• Assist in construction execution, working closely with general contractors and project teams to maintain quality, budget, and timelines

• Act as the owner's representative across all phases of delivery

• Coordinate with internal investment, capital, and asset management teams to ensure alignment on project objectives

• Track and report on project budgets, schedules, and key milestones, including review of contractor and consultant invoices, draw requests, and change orders

• Manage relationships with architects, designers, municipalities, and joint venture partners

• Uphold the firm's brand, design vision, and attention to detail across all projects

• Support broader platform growth through process improvement and team leadership


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a development professional with experience on residential projects in South Florida or comparable markets.


Key Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of development experience with a strong focus on residential projects

• Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle — pre-development, design, construction, and completion

• Strong understanding of development processes, including entitlements and permitting

• Experience working with architects, designers, and contractors

• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills and commitment to design excellence and quality execution

• Ability to operate effectively within complex, high-profile, multi-stakeholder environments, and to handle multiple projects at one time

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to represent ownership at the highest level

• Proficient in financial and development modeling in Microsoft Excel
