Location: Indianapolis, IN (100% On-site)

Position Type: 1-Year Contract (Potential for extension)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility)


Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, lab-focused Associate Investigator to support protein expression and analytical workflows in a collaborative R&D environment. You will execute established molecular biology and microbiology methods, evaluate new techniques under scientific guidance, and ensure high-quality experimental documentation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Protein & Molecular Biology: Execute routine protein isolation, analysis, and molecular biology experiments to assess recombinant microorganisms.
  • Lab Operations: Perform large-scale microbial cultivation, generate cell extracts, and apply strict aseptic techniques daily.
  • Method Development: Assist senior scientists in developing new protein expression methods and establishing reliable SOPs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely experimental records using Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).
  • Collaboration: Share progress with project stakeholders and contribute to efficient day-to-day lab operations and safety standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: BS or MS in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related life science discipline. (Note: PhD candidates will be considered overqualified).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on scientific laboratory experience (open to recent grads with 2+ years of academic/industry lab experience).
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience with sterile/aseptic laboratory techniques and protein science.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent documentation practices, and the ability to work independently on defined tasks.
  • Location: Must be local to the Indianapolis area (no remote/relocation considered).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior industry R&D laboratory experience.
  • Experience with a variety of microbial species and analytical methods.
  • Exposure to or interest in laboratory automation/semi-automated workflows.
