A dance instructor with the Jackson Parks and Recreation is responsible for teaching assigned weekly classes, choreographing recital routines, and following an agreed upon curriculum that meets pre-set goals for assigned classes. Instructors should cultivate a positive and welcoming atmosphere between all students, parents, and staff members. This position reports to the Parks and Recreation Youth Recreation Supervisor. · Adjusting and preparing a weekly lesson plan
· Taking attendance of participants
· Teaching a variety of youth participants at weekly classes
· Plans and coordinates with Youth Recreation Supervisor for recitals
· Attend any meetings as required by Youth Recreation Supervisor or Parks and Recreation Director
· Other relevant duties as assigned· Background in dance or dance education
· Teaching experience is preferred
· First Aid/CPR certification is preferred· Friendly and welcoming personality
· Ability to manage a classroom of students
· Ability to adapt to all ages, levels, and abilities
· Knowledge of dance techniques and styles
· Great work ethic including integrity, self-motivation, and passion for working with kids
· Organizational and time-management skills
