3rd Shift Controls Engineer


10pm - 7am shift schedule


Position Summary:

The 3rd Shift Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining plant-wide automation and control systems in a high-speed food/beverage manufacturing environment. This role ensures reliable overnight operations by troubleshooting equipment, optimizing processes, and minimizing downtime.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs, HMI systems, and industrial automation equipment during 3rd shift operations
  • Support continuous production by responding to equipment failures and resolving electrical/control system issues in real time
  • Maintain and improve control systems to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Partner with maintenance and operations teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Assist with programming updates, system upgrades, and new equipment installations
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, HACCP)
  • Document changes, updates, and troubleshooting activities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and industrial automation in a manufacturing environment
  • SCADA or database experience
  • maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production setting
