The Construction Specialist supports the Construction Project Manager on paving and concrete construction and improvement projects. This role assists with identifying contract‑ready work, evaluating project feasibility, coordinating with construction crews and contractors, and providing field oversight. Responsibilities may include preparing job packages and estimates, supporting bid reviews, participating in job walks, and ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with permits, regulations, safety requirements, and schedules.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support multiple construction projects by partnering closely with Project Managers and construction supervisors.
  • Assist with identifying contract‑worthy work and reviewing contractor proposals.
  • Participate in job walks, scope reviews, and design reviews to provide constructability input.
  • Compile drawings and project data to support RFP and contract development.
  • Coordinate and communicate with contractors during pre‑construction and construction phases.
  • Provide onsite field oversight and represent the owner during construction activities.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with site‑specific safety plans, environmental requirements, and permits.
  • Track project progress, documentation, change orders, and billing through workload management tools.
  • Lead or support construction meetings and maintain accurate field records through project closeout.


Required

  • 3+ years of experience supporting or managing construction projects, ideally in paving, concrete, roadway, or underground construction.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously, including job walks, scope reviews, contractor coordination, and field documentation.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and basic cost estimating.
  • Familiarity with contractor oversight, change orders, progress tracking, and billing support.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety practices, environmental requirements, and permit compliance.
  • Ability to support pre‑construction and construction activities from mobilization through closeout.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working between field crews, contractors, engineers, and project managers.
