Construction Inspection Manager

Salary: $94,000 – $122,000 per year

Work Environment: Field and Office-Based

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes – Construction Inspection Team


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspection Manager to lead construction inspection operations for civil and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for supervising inspection staff, coordinating project execution, ensuring quality control, and supporting successful delivery of municipal construction projects from preconstruction through close-out.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership experience in civil infrastructure construction, including roadway, utility, and site development projects, along with the ability to manage teams, schedules, and field operations effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of construction inspection staff and project activities
  • Coordinate transition from design to construction, including constructability reviews
  • Assign staff and manage project schedules and resource planning
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations
  • Review and approve contractor payment certifications and project documentation
  • Identify and manage field changes, including cost and schedule impacts
  • Maintain communication with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and training to inspection personnel
  • Support hiring and workforce planning to meet project demands
  • Ensure timely project completion and documentation close-out


Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in construction inspection, civil construction, or infrastructure project management
  • Demonstrated experience supervising construction inspection or field teams
  • Experience supporting municipal or public infrastructure projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction or inspection management software


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with infrastructure projects such as:
  • Roadway and pavement rehabilitation
  • Stormwater and drainage systems
  • Sanitary sewer and water utilities
  • Land development or site construction
  • Experience with contract administration and construction scheduling
  • Experience mentoring field staff or managing inspection teams


Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • NICET Certification (Levels I–III)
  • ACI Field Technician Certification
  • Traffic Control / Work Zone Safety Certification
  • Confined Space Training


Work Environment

  • Combination of field and office work
  • Regular site visits to active construction projects
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
