Snow College is seeking a skilled and proactive Campus Housing Maintenance Manager to oversee the physical integrity and operational efficiency of our residential facilities. This role is responsible for managing maintenance requests and long-term upkeep for 7 buildings housing approximately 750 students. The ideal candidate is a master of all trades who can balance urgent daily repairs with the strategic planning required to modernize facilities ranging from mid-century builds to contemporary units.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in general contracting, handyman work, or facility maintenance.
• Proven proficiency in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and appliance repair.
• Must be able to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to interact professionally with college students, staff, and external vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
• Specific experience maintaining older commercial buildings, particularly those featuring cast iron plumbing and vintage infrastructure.
• Ability to evaluate aging facilities (1960s era) and develop phased renovation plans to modernize living spaces for the modern student.
Work Environment
This position manages a diverse portfolio of 7 buildings. Candidates must be comfortable transitioning between the unique challenges of legacy buildings and newer construction, often within the same shift.
Leadership & Oversight
• Supervision: Directly supervise and mentor one full-time employee; coordinate schedules and quality-check completed work orders.
• Inspection: Conduct regular building walkthroughs to identify general repairs, safety defects, and preventative maintenance needs.
• Emergency Response: Serve as the primary on-call contact for housing-related emergencies (leaks, lockouts, power failures).
Trades & Technical Repairs
• Carpentry & Flooring: Repair/install carpet, tile, and resilient flooring; repair cabinets, refinish wood surfaces, and install laminate/Formica products.
• Plumbing: Perform basic plumbing including clearing drains/sewer lines; install and troubleshoot toilets, sinks, and garbage disposals.
• Electrical: Install light fixtures and replace ballasts and bulbs.
• Appliance Repair: Troubleshoot and repair residential and industrial appliances, including stoves, steamers, and dishwashers.
• Locksmithing: Repair doors and key systems (both traditional and electronic); cut keys for new systems.
General Maintenance & Grounds
• Finishing Work: Professional painting, stuccoing, and texturing using various methods, including spray guns.
• Exterior & Structural: Perform minor roof repairs and basic concrete work (preparing, laying, and repairing).
• Seasonal Duties: Oversee and execute snow removal using both shovels and plows to ensure student safety.
• Logistics: Move and repair student furniture and install window coverings/fixtures.
