Summary

The Construction Administrator (CA) provides leadership and support during the construction phase of projects, consistent with the duties of DesignGroup (“firm”) as set forth in its agreements with various owners and clients. Acting as the firm's representative on site, this role facilitates communication between owners, contractors, consultants, and internal teams while managing risk and supporting project success.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the firm’s primary representative during the construction phase
  • Conduct regular site visits for observations, preparing detailed field reports and photo documentation
  • Manage and track RFI’s submittals, shop drawings, change orders, clarifications, and bulletins.
  • Lead and participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor (QAC) meetings, communicating project status, Owner decisions, and next steps.
  • Coordinate activities with the Project Architect and consultants to address field issues and design intent.
  • Review and make recommendations to Owner regarding approval of contractor applications for payment.
  • Attend project closeout walk-throughs, prepare punch lists, verify completion for record documents, and close out deliverables.
  • Contribute to the firm’s Quality Management System, including constructability reviews during design phases.
  • Represent the firm with professionalism in all client, contractor, and regulatory interactions.


Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of construction management, materials, and building trades.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning, ADA, and healthcare regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve issues with contractors, consultants, and owners.
  • Proven capacity to manage projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
  • Understanding of risk management and liability related to field representation


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 -10 years’ experience in construction administration, observation, or coordination.
  • Healthcare project experience strongly preferred.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • LEED AP and/or WELL AP preferred.
  • Architectural Registration or Professional Engineer preferred.
