The Designer – 2D CAD technician is responsible for creating accurate 2D CAD drawings and digital patterns to support the design and manufacturing of automotive seat trim components. This role works closely with engineers and design teams to develop seat cover assemblies, detailed part drawings, and supporting documentation required for costing, manufacturing, and program execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret design work orders, engineering inputs, and customer requirements to develop accurate 2D CAD deliverables
  • Collaborate directly with engineers to support seat trim and seat cover development activities
  • Use AutoCAD to create 2D seat cover assembly drawings with complete construction, material, and process details
  • Generate 2D detailed component part drawings with proper dimensioning and tolerances
  • Create digital seat trim patterns using Gerber software and digitizing equipment
  • Develop and maintain parts lists, specification charts, and costing breakdowns using Microsoft Excel templates
  • Prepare program and design review presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Support team-based projects and meet aggressive program timing and deliverable schedules

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree, technical or vocational degree, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • One to three years of experience in CAD design, preferably within automotive seat trim or soft trim applications
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2007 or newer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Working knowledge of Gerber Accumark (V8 or newer) preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator a plus
