American Board is seeking a sharp, driven Communications and Public Relations Associate for a part-time summer role. This is not a passive internship. It is a hands-on position for someone who wants to produce real work, earn real results, and leave the summer with tangible accomplishments.

We are looking for someone who can think strategically about messaging, take initiative, and execute quickly.

This role is ideal for a college student or recent graduate pursuing communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.

American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (American Board) helps career changers become teachers through a flexible, affordable certification pathway.

Operating in multiple states, we are focused on addressing the teacher shortage by helping qualified individuals enter the classroom and make an impact in their communities.

• Pitch stories to media outlets and secure coverage
• Identify opportunities to highlight our teachers and organization in the news
• Draft press releases, media pitches, and outreach emails
• Support social media and brand awareness efforts
• Research media contacts and build outreach lists
• Track and report on media placements and engagement
• Step in where needed to move projects forward

• Current college student or recent graduate (communications, PR, marketing, or related field preferred)
• Strong writing and communication skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Interest in media, storytelling, and brand building

• You take ownership and follow through
• You move quickly and don’t wait for direction
• You want real responsibility—not busy work
• You are motivated to build a portfolio of meaningful work
• You’re comfortable learning new tools and figuring things out

This is a part-time summer role designed for students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience in communications and public relations.

• Pay: $15–$20 per hour, based on experience
• Schedule: Flexible hours (approximately 15–20 hours per week)
• Location: Hybrid
• Required: 1 day per week in-office (6 hours) in Atlanta, GA
• Remaining hours: Remote
