Commercial Litigation Paralegal (Defense)

Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 base salary, depending on experience

Our client, a well-established law firm with a strong commercial litigation practice, is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Paralegal to join its Chicago office. This is a newly created role due to continued growth and increased workload.

About the Role

This paralegal will support a collaborative team of 10 attorneys, primarily handling commercial litigation defense matters, including work for a large municipal client. The role offers hands-on exposure to cases from inception through discovery and provides strong training and mentorship.

You will work closely with and be trained by senior paralegals and become an integral part of the litigation support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive litigation support from case inception through discovery
  • E-file pleadings and documents in state and federal courts
  • Utilize PACER and manage court filings
  • Handle electronic and physical document management and organization
  • Assist with drafting litigation document
  • Prepare, serve, and manage subpoenas
  • Support attorneys with general commercial litigation tasks as needed
  • No formal billable hour requirement

Ideal Background

  • Commercial litigation experience strongly preferred
  • Defense-side experience is ideal
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
