A premier Chicago commercial litigation boutique with a niche, sophisticated litigation practice is adding a senior attorney due to sustained growth and an exceptionally busy docket. The team handles cutting-edge contract disputes for large, sophisticated clients, with meaningful responsibility and direct client contact.
This is a hands-on practice. If you want to do the work, own the work product, and grow quickly through real reps (briefing, depositions, court appearances, strategy), this is worth a conversation.
What You’ll Do
- Handle a mix of commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, manage discovery, and drive case strategy
- Take and defend depositions and handle court appearances
- Contribute to appeals work (where applicable)
- Communicate directly with sophisticated business clients
- Work in a lean, team-based environment with strong oversight and development
What They’re Looking For
- Approximately 8–9 years of litigation experience
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of matters
- Strong judgment, initiative, and excellent writing
- Experience with insurance coverage, complex commercial litigation, government litigation, or sophisticated insurance defense backgrounds (including complex matters) is welcome
- Illinois bar preferred; open to strong candidates who can waive in

Hours, Compensation, and Benefits
- Billable expectation: 1500 billed for bonus eligibility (most attorneys land around 1500–1600)
- Compensation (base): $150,000–$180,000
- Bonus: Discretionary bonus after 1500 billed
- Benefits: 401(k) with profit sharing; bar dues; professional memberships/associations supported (timing varies); PTO policy is flexible with responsible use, paid sick leave where applicable by state law.
