About the Role
HC Solutions Group is partnering with a growing civil engineering consulting firm in Chicago that is seeking a Civil Land Development Engineer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of land development projects while gaining exposure to both technical design and client facing responsibilities.
This role offers hands on involvement in site development design, permitting, and project coordination across commercial, residential, and mixed use developments. Engineers in this position will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high quality site solutions from concept through construction.

The firm partners closely with developers, municipalities, and design teams to support projects from early planning stages through final construction.
Their work includes site development, utility design, stormwater management, grading, and permitting support. The firm emphasizes a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment where engineers are encouraged to take ownership of projects and contribute directly to client success.
Responsibilities
• Prepare site development plans including grading, drainage, and utility layouts
• Perform stormwater management design and hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
• Assist with preparation of construction documents, reports, and permitting packages
• Coordinate with architects, developers, and municipal agencies
• Support project management efforts including scheduling and client communication
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software for design and modeling
• Review project requirements and applicable codes to ensure compliance
• Participate in site visits and support construction phase services
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Experience with land development design including grading, drainage, and utilities
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Knowledge of stormwater management principles and local permitting processes
• Strong understanding of civil engineering fundamentals and site design practices
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with project teams
• Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer license preferred
