Chief Relationship Officer | Michigan
A prominent private single-family office in the Great Lakes region is seeking a Chief Relationship Officer to serve in a senior leadership capacity within a sophisticated, multi-generational family office environment.
The firm provides a full suite of integrated wealth management, investment advisory, planning, and lifestyle management services to UHNW family members. The culture is highly collaborative, service-oriented, and built around discretion, excellence, and long-term relationship management.
The Chief Relationship Officer will be responsible for leading and overseeing key family relationships, ensuring a best-in-class client experience across all areas of wealth management and family office services. This individual will act as a senior strategic advisor and relationship leader, coordinating across internal teams and external advisors to deliver thoughtful, timely, and highly customized solutions.
This role requires deep experience serving ultra-high-net-worth families, strong technical fluency across wealth planning disciplines, and the executive presence to operate as a trusted advisor within a complex family office setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior relationship leader and trusted advisor to UHNW family members across multiple generations
- Oversee and enhance the overall client experience, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of family office services
- Provide strategic guidance across a wide range of wealth management and planning matters, including: Estate and wealth transfer planning, investment allocation and portfolio coordination, income tax planning, Trust management and administration, philanthropy and legacy planning, risk management and insurance planning, sash flow, expense management, and financial reporting, and family governance, education, and financial literacy
- Act as the central point of coordination across internal family office teams, outside advisors, and other professional partners
- Lead client meetings, prepare and present strategic materials, and ensure follow-through on key planning initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, communication, and operational efficiency across the family office
- Mentor and collaborate with internal professionals to support a cohesive, high-performing client service model
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, judgment, and professionalism
Qualifications and Experience
- 20+ years of experience serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, or family office clients
- Deep understanding of complex wealth planning, estate planning, trust structures, tax planning, investments, and family office services
- Prior leadership experience within a single-family office, multi-family office, private wealth management firm, trust company, or similar UHNW advisory environment
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation preferred
- Strong executive presence and ability to build trust with sophisticated family members and advisors
- Highly organized, polished, discreet, and able to prioritize complex matters in a fast-moving environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex planning topics into clear, practical guidance
- Collaborative leadership style with a strong service mindset
