CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Chief Growth Officer in the Philadelphia area.


This newly created role is ideal for a strategic, results-oriented executive who enjoys building structure, accountability, and scalable growth systems within a collaborative, high-performing professional services firm.

Our Client is a 200+ person engineering firm with offices in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Washington DC, and Baltimore. Established in 1982, our client has been in the forefront of providing critical and technologically advanced engineering. The firm enjoys a rich history in specialized areas such as data center/mission critical, high-rise, multi-family, corporate, healthcare/life sciences, building infrastructure, and education facilities including both higher education and K-12.


Founded as a Mechanical/Electrical consulting engineering firm, they now also seamlessly offer Structural, Technology, Commissioning and Sustainability services. Our client’s culture is rooted in relationships. What You’ll Do:

The Chief Growth Officer (“CGO”) will lead the firm’s sales and business development strategy, drive sustainable revenue growth across markets, clients, and service lines. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will balance immediate revenue objectives with thoughtful, long-term positioning, strengthening the firm’s competitive advantage in a dynamic design engineering environment.


Strategic Growth Planning & Market Expansion

  • Identify and prioritize new markets, geographies, client segments, and service opportunities aligned with firm capabilities.
  • Develop and execute multi-year growth data-driven strategies tied to overall business objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies to proactively position the firm.


Revenue Leadership & Sales Infrastructure

  • Lead and formalize the firm’s sales and business development strategy across service lines and offices unifying marketing, sales and service offerings to optimize shared revenue goals.
  • Establish clear, data-driven revenue targets, KPIs, and pipeline forecasting discipline to improve visibility and predictability.
  • Strengthen pursuit processes, key account strategy, and cross-selling initiatives.
  • Coach and support practice leaders and seller-doers in driving business development performance.


Client Strategy & Market Positioning

  • Elevate the firm’s value proposition and competitive differentiation in target markets.
  • Strengthen enterprise-level client relationships and long-term partnership strategies increasing client retention.
  • Oversee voice-of-the-client insights to inform service refinement and market expansion.


Innovation & Digital Enablement

  • Champion innovation initiatives that enhance service delivery and client experience.
  • Partner with technical leadership to ensure strong service-market alignment and scalable offerings.
  • Support digital transformation efforts that improve growth infrastructure and market reach.


Strategic Partnerships & Corporate Development

  • Identify and cultivate strategic alliances, joint ventures, and potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Support M&A evaluation and integration efforts as part of long-term growth strategy.
  • Build relationships with industry organizations and key stakeholders to elevate market presence.


What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in business development, sales strategy, or enterprise growth within a multidisciplinary design engineering, building systems, or AEC firm.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-year growth strategies aligned with firm-wide performance objectives, with the ability to identify emerging market opportunities and translate them into scalable service offerings.
  • Strong financial acumen, including understanding of project margins, fee structures, forecasting, utilization, and backlog management.
  • Experience advancing growth across mechanical, electrical, structural, technology, commissioning, and/or sustainability disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of the building design and construction ecosystem, including emerging trends in energy efficiency, digital integration, sustainability, and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success formalizing growth infrastructure, including CRM discipline, pipeline management, pursuit strategy, and KPI tracking.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or business preferred. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Compensation

$220K - $250K plus incentive
