Job Type: Fulltime Permanent Role/Direct Hire

Salary Range: $100K - $130K/Annum plus benefits

Job Description:

We are seeking a Chemical Plant Engineer to support facility infrastructure, utility systems, chemical processes, and operational improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role will focus on improving process reliability, safety, efficiency, and compliance while supporting facility and infrastructure projects.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical or process manufacturing, experience working with industrial chemical systems, and the ability to independently drive projects and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and improve chemical handling systems, utility infrastructure, and related plant operations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate chemical and process-related risks.
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, process documentation, and reports.
  • Develop equipment and facility requirements for infrastructure and process improvement projects.
  • Support facility expansion, equipment upgrades, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze operational performance and implement process optimization strategies.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance activities and support asset management programs.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Engineering, and external contractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, and project documentation.
  • Troubleshoot facility utility systems and process-related issues.
  • Support long-term infrastructure planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.


Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of chemical processes, industrial utilities, and manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of process safety principles and risk management methodologies.
  • Experience supporting projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of facility systems, HVAC, fire protection systems, and industrial utility infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Plant Engineering, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Strong background in chemical or process manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with hazardous chemicals, chemical distribution systems, or process infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Risk Management Programs (RMP), or similar process safety frameworks is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects and drive operational improvements.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, EHS, contractors, and vendors.
