Location: Louisville, KY (Hybrid – Onsite Tuesday through Thursday)


Allied Resources Technical Consultants is seeking an experienced Category Manager II to support a leading energy and utilities organization. This position is heavily focused on contract management, supplier negotiations, procurement strategy, and supply chain optimization. The ideal candidate will have experience negotiating complex contracts, reviewing contractual language, conducting financial and market analysis, and supporting large-scale procurement initiatives.


Key Highlights:

• Manage procurement and supply chain activities supporting contracts valued up to $100M annually.

• Lead negotiations for complex contracts, partnering with legal teams to mitigate risk and maximize commercial value.

• Perform supplier, market, and financial analysis to evaluate risk and develop sourcing strategies.

• Manage the full procurement lifecycle from requirements definition through contract administration and supplier performance management.

• Support capital projects involving software, SaaS, hardware, engineering services, construction services, and other indirect spend categories.

• Develop and maintain supplier relationships while identifying new sourcing opportunities and emerging technologies.

• Serve as the category subject matter expert, providing market intelligence, supplier performance oversight, and strategic sourcing guidance.

• Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and internal business units to ensure successful contract execution and project delivery.

• Hybrid schedule with onsite collaboration required three days per week.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, logistics, contract management, or related purchasing functions.

• Experience negotiating contracts and interpreting commercial terms and conditions.

• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, supplier evaluation, and sourcing strategies.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including experience reviewing documents using track changes and redlining functionality.

• Knowledge of business law, commercial agreements, and risk mitigation practices.

• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or other Supply Chain certifications.

• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.

• Project management experience supporting complex procurement initiatives.

• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build credibility across internal stakeholders and external suppliers.


Additional Requirements:

• Must reside within commuting distance of Louisville, KY.

• Must be able to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday.

• This is a contract-focused procurement role and is not a traditional buyer position.

• Experience reviewing, negotiating, and redlining contracts is highly preferred.

• Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

• This is not a driving role.
