We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist (U.S. & UK E-Billing) to join our Accounting & Billing team in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal billing professional with strong e-billing expertise and experience supporting both domestic and international clients.


About the Role

The Billing Specialist will manage the full billing lifecycle for assigned attorneys and clients, including legal billing, electronic billing submissions, client compliance review, and international billing coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex billing arrangements, LEDES formats, multi-currency invoicing, VAT considerations, and outside counsel guidelines for U.S. and UK-based clients.


Key Responsibilities


Legal Billing & Invoice Management

  • Perform full-cycle legal billing, including preparation, editing, finalization, and submission of invoices.
  • Review prebills and coordinate billing revisions with attorneys.
  • Process write-offs, transfers, and client-specific billing requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoice submission.


E-Billing Operations

  • Submit invoices through e-billing platforms including Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Collaborati, Tymetrix 360, Passport, CounselGo, and similar systems.
  • Ensure compliance with outside counsel guidelines, billing rules, task codes, and rate structures.
  • Troubleshoot rejected invoices and manage appeals and resubmissions.
  • Generate and validate LEDES files.


International & UK Billing

  • Prepare and process invoices for UK and international clients.
  • Manage multi-currency billing and foreign currency conversions.
  • Coordinate VAT-related billing adjustments.
  • Support cross-border billing arrangements and client-specific invoicing protocols.


Accounts Receivable & Reporting

  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and assist with collections follow-up.
  • Research billing discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Generate billing and AR reports for attorneys and firm leadership.


Qualifications


Required

  • 5+ years of legal billing experience.
  • Strong law firm e-billing experience.
  • Proficiency with LEDES billing formats and major e-billing platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred

  • Experience billing UK and international clients.
  • Knowledge of VAT billing requirements.
  • Experience with Aderant Expert, Elite Enterprise, or comparable legal billing systems.
  • Experience with multi-currency invoicing.
