The Opportunity

Are you a benefits expert who loves the intersection of data analysis and employee advocacy? We are looking for a Senior Benefits Administrator to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. In this role, you’ll be a key player in the planning, communication, and administration of our U.S. benefit and retirement programs. Your mission is to assist HR by answering complex benefit questions, identifying and solving problems, and providing suggestions for process improvements that provide cost-effective strategies to support our diverse workforce.


What You’ll Do

  • Program Management: Assist in overseeing day-to-day operations for all U.S. plans, including self-funded medical/RX, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits.
  • Retirement Oversight: Help administer our 401(k) plans, a frozen pension, and a small retiree medical plan and assist with data validation, compliance testing, and annual audits.
  • HR Partnership: Work with the facility HR teams, resolving complex claims issues by working closely with carriers and consultants to find solutions.
  • Systems & Data: Become the subject matter expert on ADP Workforce Now (WFN) for benefits setup, open enrollment preparation, and HRIS reporting. You’ll ensure data integrity between ADP and our various carriers and identify patterns to determine the scope of any current or potential problems.Assist HR and payroll teams by communicating and documenting processes and procedures.
  • Leaves & Compliance: Manage inquiries regarding FMLA, ADA, STD/LTD, and Worker’s Comp. Ensure we stay ahead of federal and state regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, Section 125, etc.).
  • Strategic Support: Assist with annual benefit renewals and audits, track high-cost claims, and analyze benefit data against benchmarking information to help manage costs. Work with the corporate benefits team and our consultants at MMA to evaluate recommendations for plan changes and long term benefit strategies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify manual or system bottlenecks and suggest operational improvements to streamline benefits administration. Create and maintain a benefit information system to share benefit plan documents and forms with HR teams and employees.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Provide backup for payroll processing and assist with onsite clinic issues, workers compensation, biometric screenings and provide other support as needed.


Your Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–7 years of benefits administration, across multiple locations, with a deep understanding of how benefits impact payroll and HR functions.
  • Tech Savvy: At least 5 years of HRIS/Payroll experience, specifically 3+ years with ADP Workforce Now. You should be fluent in Microsoft Office and an Excel power user (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and graphing are second nature to you).
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong command of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filings, and compliance requirements. This includes ACA, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, Section 125, workers’ compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.Remain current with federal and state legislation changes that will impact benefits and payroll.
  • Communication Style: You possess excellent verbal and written skills, and exceptional data analytical skills. You can interpret data and translate complex benefits information into clear communications for HR and employees. Assist in creating effective presentations for leadership, utilizing benchmark data.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field. CEBS, PHR/SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP certifications are a major plus.
