Automation Technician

Full‑Time | Lafayette, IN

Pay Rate: $36 - $37 an hour

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (2‑2‑3 Schedule)

We’re partnering with a global leader in industrial manufacturing in Lafayette, IN that’s looking to add an Automation Technician to their growing team. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys hands‑on troubleshooting, working with advanced automation systems, and keeping high‑performance equipment running at peak efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Diagnose and support automation systems including PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs (Allen‑Bradley preferred)
  • Work safely with 480VAC, 120VAC, and 24VDC manufacturing environments
  • Build, install, and modify electrical circuits and control panels
  • Perform preventive maintenance and support equipment startups and shutdowns
  • Partner with operators to ensure safe operation and maximize uptime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and performance documentation
  • Assist with training and technical support for other maintenance personnel


What We’re Looking For:

  • 2‑year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship
  • 3–5 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and industrial controls
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, megger, infrared scanner, etc.)
  • Comfortable working at heights and in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and decision‑making skills
