Technician

Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Mechanical Testing)- Entry Level- $22.00/hour

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support sample preparation, testing, and reporting activities in accordance with established test methods and standard operating procedures. This role involves both hands-on mechanical work and precise data recording, with opportunities to contribute to technical support and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze samples following published test methods and company/client SOPs
• Fabricate test specimens using hand tools and power tools
• Perform destructive and non-destructive physical testing on a variety of materials
• Accurately record and document test results using handwritten datasheets, computer-generated reports, and electronic systems
• Compile and prepare clear, organized test reports
• Support investigation and resolution of client inquiries and complaints
• Coordinate with laboratory staff on sample receiving, logging, preparation, and testing workflows. Fabricate fixtures or equipment required for testing processes
• Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with applicable industry standards

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline, required
• Prior laboratory experience is a plus
• Experience in physical or mechanical testing required

Skills & Competencies:

• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools; strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively within a team
• Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and testing methods
• Experience in a machine shop or tool room environment is a plus
• Knowledge of automation or PLC programming is desirable
