Introduction
Our client is a privately owned small animal hospital hiring for a full-time Associate Veterinarian. The hospital currently sees cats and dogs, although they are open to expanding species if a doctor has a particular interest. They are looking for an experienced doctor to take on a clinical role within the practice while maintaining complete autonomy over their caseload.
Role Description and Responsibilities
This role involves providing a high level of medicine while carrying out all typical general practice responsibilities. The caseload includes wellness care, diagnostics, dermatology, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, surgical oncology, and laser therapy. Appointments are currently scheduled for 20 minutes, although the practice is happy to extend these to 30 minutes where preferred. The position is suited to an experienced veterinarian, as you will be working as the sole DVM within the clinic. The owner remains actively involved in the practice and is available to provide ongoing support, while also continuing to see patients on Fridays. The schedule is Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm, with Fridays and weekends off.
Practice Details
The hospital operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. It is a modern clinic and is equipped with ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, laser therapy equipment, a surgical suite, in-house labs, and an electronic record keeping system. The practice is open to investing in additional equipment if there is a particular area of interest a doctor would like to pursue. Services offered include wellness care, diagnostics, dermatology, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, surgical oncology, laser therapy, and urgent and emergency services. The practice also works alongside a travelling veterinarian who performs ultrasounds and echocardiograms. The environment is supportive and flexible, with a focus on maintaining high standards of medicine while allowing clinical freedom and autonomy.
Team
You will be the sole DVM within the practice. Although the owner will still be involved in the clinic and available for support, you will have complete autonomy over your caseload. The hospital is supported by a fantastic, well-experienced and long-standing team with very low staff turnover. The support staff includes 1.5 receptionists, with one able to assist clinically as an assistant when needed, 1 x technician, and 1 practice manager who can also work as a technician. The team is described as supportive, collaborative, and fun, contributing to a positive working environment.
