Introduction

Our client is a privately owned, family-run veterinary hospital that is currently seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its close-knit and supportive team. The practice provides high-quality small animal care for cats and dogs and is also open to supporting professional development for any interests. This is a unique opportunity to step into a role that combines clinical autonomy, mentorship, and the chance to truly shape your own area of the practice.

Working Hours / Rota

The hospital operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, with Saturday hours from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. The preferred working hours for the veterinarian are approximately 8:00–8:30 am through to 5:30 pm. The practice is seeking a full-time veterinarian but offers genuine flexibility, including the option of no weekend work if preferred. The schedule can be tailored to support work-life balance while maintaining continuity of care.

Role Description and Responsibilities

This Associate Veterinarian position is based primarily within the hospital’s wellness clinic, which operates alongside the main hospital. The wellness clinic focuses exclusively on preventative and wellness care and does not carry a surgical caseload. Having been open for approximately a year and a half, the clinic already has an established and growing client base. You will be given the opportunity to run this wellness centre and make it your own, making this role ideal for a veterinarian who is ambitious, motivated, and eager to build long-term client relationships. While you will enjoy a high level of autonomy, you will also have access to mentorship and support as needed. The ideal candidate will have proficiency or the willingness to learn to perform cat spay and neuter surgeries. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, particularly those who are excited by independence while still valuing guidance and professional development.

Practice Details

The wellness centre is well equipped with ultrasound, in-house bloodwork, and radiology, allowing you to provide thorough and efficient preventative and diagnostic care. The main hospital, located just a few steps away, houses a fully equipped surgical suite and dental facilities, enabling seamless referrals for procedures beyond the wellness clinic. Together, the facilities offer a comprehensive range of services, ensuring patients receive complete and continuous care in a familiar environment. There is a potential for partnership or part-ownership of the practice to those candidates in the future.

Team

You will work alongside one highly experienced DVM, who is also the owner of the practice and is deeply committed to mentoring, supporting, and developing each veterinarian. The environment is flexible, understanding, and genuinely supportive. You will also be assisted by two to three dedicated support staff, creating a close-knit team that works collaboratively and efficiently. The culture is family-oriented, respectful, and focused on delivering excellent patient care while supporting one another.
