Introduction

Our client is a privately owned veterinary practice located in Greenwood, Indiana, set on a beautiful golf course. They are hiring a full-time Associate Veterinarian who enjoys both surgery and medicine cases. This is a practice that primarily sees dogs and cats, along with some rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, and gerbils. Interest in pocket pets is welcome but not required and the practice is open to welcoming new species if the incoming veterinarian has a particular passion they'd like to continue to pursue.

Working Hours / Rota

Appointments begin at 8:00 AM. Surgery is scheduled daily, starting between 9:30–10:00 AM and typically completed by 12:00 PM. From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM is reserved for lunch, drop-offs, and administrative tasks, followed by appointments from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The schedule typically alternates weekly: one week consists of 4 days, and the following week includes 3.5 days plus a weekend shift. The role includes every other Saturday, though weekend coverage is negotiable. There are no on-call responsibilities. The clinic is open to full-time and part-time applicants. Interest in the full spectrum of clinical practice is preferred, but those seeking wellness-only roles will be considered.

Role Description and Responsibilities

The Associate Veterinarian will handle a combination of medicine and surgical cases, performing 2–4 surgeries per day on assigned surgery days. Clinical duties include wellness care, internal medicine, dentistry, and soft-tissue surgery. Appointment lengths are typically 20 minutes, with 30-minute slots for sick or new patients. The role is open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates. The practice is mentorship-focused, with a mentor-certified doctor who enjoys training and supporting new team members.

Practice Details

The practice features Sound DR radiograph and Progeny DR dental radiograph machines, an in-house ultrasound system, a newer IM3 dental unit in a dedicated dental area, and five exam rooms equipped with Canis Major lift tables. A modern surgery suite is reserved for sterile procedures and includes isoflurane and sevoflurane anesthesia machines and a Digicare multi-parameter monitor with EtCO₂. The practice uses Intravet software on nearly new computers. Additional features include an in-house pharmacy, access to both in-house and external lab testing, a full line of prescription diets, and no grooming or boarding services.

Team

The team includes two DVMs and a 4:1 support staff-to-doctor ratio. The work environment is collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and practicing high-quality medicine.
