Assistant Plant Manager

Position Summary

A growing food manufacturing company is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to help lead daily operations at a high-volume production facility. This individual will partner closely with plant leadership to drive operational excellence across production, quality, maintenance, sanitation, safety, and warehouse functions.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in food manufacturing who can develop teams, improve performance, and ensure operational goals are met while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day management of plant operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety objectives are achieved.
  • Lead and develop supervisors and hourly team members across multiple departments.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Partner with quality, food safety, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Support workforce planning, employee development, and performance management activities.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Analyze production data and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in managing labor, productivity, and operational costs.
  • Support capital projects, process improvements, and facility initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of leadership experience within food manufacturing, food processing, protein processing, or a related production environment.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and develop employees.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a production environment and lead multiple departments simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Food Science, Operations Management, Engineering, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • Experience within protein, meat, poultry, or refrigerated food manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and manufacturing best practices.
