Our client, a growing company based in the Duluth, Georgia area, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting leadership team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with a strong foundation in process improvement, systems optimization, and operational accounting, who can help strengthen the close process, enhance reporting, and support a scalable finance function.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process improvement and automation initiatives across the accounting function to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance efficiency.
  • Serve as a key resource in optimizing accounting systems and related technology, identifying opportunities for workflow enhancements, integrations, and better use of existing tools.
  • Help drive improvements in month-end close and day-to-day accounting processes, with a focus on scalability, consistency, and stronger financial reporting.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accounting processes and reporting align with broader operational and financial goals.
  • Support technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and the proper treatment of complex transactions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
  • Prepare and maintain internal financial reporting packages and support leadership with timely, accurate financial information.
  • Oversee core accounting activities, including general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other monthly close responsibilities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and accounting records.
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of internal controls, policies, and procedures to support a growing organization.
  • Support external audit activity and help maintain audit readiness.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including both public accounting and industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes, streamlining workflows, and driving greater efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience working with ERP systems and other accounting-related technologies; experience with system optimization is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and flux analysis.
