My client has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join a well-established non-profit organization based in Camp Springs, MD. The Assistant Controller will support the accounting department by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing union-related financial reporting, preparing supporting schedules, assisting with the annual audit, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Daily responsibilities of the Assistant Controller include:


  • Facilitate the month-end close process.
  • Assist with the annual Single Audit.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and reporting requirements.
  • Review and confirm accuracy of union codes and related reporting.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and assist with additional administrative duties as needed.


The ideal Assistant Controller candidate will have the following qualifications:


  • 4+ years of non-profit accounting experience.
  • Experience working with unions is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Sage accounting platforms preferred.
  • CPA designation preferred.
