The AR function is expanding to support continued business scaling, and the team is growing, creating room for increased ownership and longer-term progression. It’s an ideal home base for someone who wants career stability in construction while still being close to everything that makes the Bay Area energizing.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, the Accounts Receivable Specialist will be a key driver of accurate construction billing and proactive AR collections, helping keep projects funded and relationships strong.

  • Own daily construction billing workflows, including assembling supporting documentation and meeting customer-specific submission requirements
  • Manage AR collections as a major focus of the week, using professional, confident communication to resolve delinquencies and protect cash flow
  • Monitor and impact AR aging, prioritizing high-impact accounts and coordinating internal action plans with project and operations partners
  • Apply and reconcile payments accurately, investigating short pays, deductions, and timing differences common in construction and building billing
  • Support change order and extra work billing by coordinating pricing, backup, and approvals so billings reflect the latest job scope
  • Maintain pricing sheets and job-related billing data to improve consistency, reduce rework, and strengthen billing accuracy
  • Coordinate documentation commonly tied to construction receivables, such as certificates, releases, and customer-required closeout items
  • Review dispatch and job activity details that influence billings, including labor and equipment usage, to ensure billing aligns to field operations
  • Assist with customer inquiries and service needs, balancing responsiveness with firm follow-through on payment commitments
  • Produce ad hoc reporting and analysis that helps the accounting team understand trends in billing, collections, and account risk
  • Contribute to process improvement across AR, including cleanliness of customer records, billing checklists, and workflow consistency in systems such as Viewpoint Vista

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

This Accounts Receivable Specialist opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to deepen construction AR expertise while building strong, transferable accounting and customer-facing skills.

  • 3+ of Accounts Receivable and/or Project Accounting experience with meaningful exposure to billing and collections
  • Construction, building, or project-based invoicing experience, including comfort with change orders, backup documentation, and customer billing rules
  • Confidence navigating AR collections conversations with a calm, firm, professional approach
  • Intermediate Excel capability for tracking, reconciliations, aging reviews, and light analysis
  • Familiarity with AR workflows in Viewpoint Vista or a similar construction accounting platform (helpful, not required)
  • Strong math accuracy and attention to detail for payment application, reconciliation, and exception handling
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with project teams, operations, and accounting to keep billing aligned with real job activity
  • Fast, accurate data entry and ten-key proficiency, with a focus on quality and efficiency
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills that support both customer service and collections outcomes

This Accounts Receivable Specialist role offers a strong total rewards package designed for stability, long-term retention, and real investment in employees.

  • Competitive base compensation with a bonus program
  • Excellent Family medical, dental, and vision coverage options
  • Retirement support including a 401(k) employer match and a company equity program
  • Paid time off and paid holidays, sabbatical, maternity / paternity
