Accounts Receivable Specialist

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts with a primary focus on collections and account resolution, while supporting transactional AR activities. This role drives timely payment of invoices, reduces aging balances, and partners cross-functionally to resolve billing and payment issues. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, attention to detail, and experience working within ERP systems, preferably SAP.


Key Responsibilities


Collections & Account Management

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices
  • Conduct outbound collection calls and emails to follow up on overdue balances
  • Analyze aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on risk and volume
  • Investigate and resolve payment delays, disputes, and discrepancies
  • Maintain detailed collection notes and account status updates
  • Escalate high-risk or delinquent accounts to management as needed
  • Partner with sales and customer service teams to resolve account issues
  • Maintain professionalism and strong customer relationships while enforcing payment terms
  • Evaluate customer financial stability to help establish and update credit limits

Transactional & Clerical Support

  • Generate and distribute invoices accurately and on schedule
  • Post and apply incoming payments (ACH, wire, check, credit card)
  • Reconcile customer accounts and research unapplied cash
  • Assist with month-end close activities related to AR
  • Maintain accurate customer account records in the ERP system


Job Requirements


  • 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable with a strong emphasis on collections
  • Solid understanding of AR processes, aging, and credit management
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Ability to analyze credit reports (D&B) and identify account trends
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP strongly preferred
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
