Accounts Receivable Specialist

The Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist is responsible for following up with customers on open invoices and helping ensure payments are made on time. This role involves contacting customers, resolving billing questions or issues, and keeping accurate records of collection activity. The Collections Specialist works closely with Sales, Billing, and Customer Service to help keep accounts up to date while maintaining positive working relationships with customers.


Essential Duties:

  • Manage assigned customer accounts and follow up on past-due invoices
  • Make regular collection calls and emails regarding open balances
  • Investigate payment issues and billing discrepancies
  • Document all collection activity in SAP
  • Work with Sales, Customer Service, and Billing to resolve invoice disputes
  • Review aging reports and identify high-risk accounts
  • Provide backup support for customer credit applications and credit reviews
  • Provide backup support for applying payments and reconciling accounts
  • Assist with month-end close and reporting as needed
  • Recommend accounts for write-off based on company policy
  • Support audits by providing billing and accounting documentation


Essential Requirements

Ability to manage a high volume of accounts with strong attention to detail

  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using SAP
  • Ability to resolve customer issues and disputes
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and accountability with financial data


  • Education & Experience Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of Accounts Receivable or Collections experience
  • Manufacturing or technology industry experience preferred
