Reports To: Controller

Hours: M-F 8am – 5pm (40 hours/week)

Location: Houston, TX 77014

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: 120K plus bonus potential

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team, responsible for overseeing a broad range of financial transactions and ensuring the integrity of accounting processes. This role manages core accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, prepaids, accruals, and month-end close activities.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, and is adept at learning financial systems quickly. This individual will also build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while supporting continuous improvement across the accounting function.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and record accounting transactions across subledgers and the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP), ensuring proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies
  • Oversee accounts receivable (AR), including accurate coding and revenue recognition practices
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and manage AP batch processing
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll, amortization of prepaids, inventory movements, accruals, and revenue recognition
  • Administer the employee credit card expense process, ensuring accurate GL coding and approvals
  • Analyze financial results and communicate actual vs. plan variances
  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations
  • Support the Regional Controller in implementing best practices to improve month-end close processes and financial analysis
  • Assist with year-end financial statement audits, including preparation of supporting documentation
  • Prepare government filings and tax returns as required
  • Support company initiatives and process improvements across the accounting function
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned by the Regional Controller or VP of Finance & Accounting


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Payroll Specialist


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Workday
  • Experience with reporting tools or data visualization software preferred
  • Ability to work additional hours during peak periods as needed
