About the Role:

The Accountant II, also known as Staff Accountant or Cost Accountant, is responsible for supporting financial operations through cost accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis within a manufacturing or corporate environment. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and delivering actionable financial insights to support business decision making. The Accountant II plays a key role in month-end close, reporting, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform general ledger accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis to support business operations
  • Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports
  • Manage accounts payable processes, invoicing, and data entry with a high level of accuracy
  • Analyze cost variances, track expenses, and develop reporting to support budgeting and forecasting
  • Utilize ERP systems and accounting software to maintain financial data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and data visualization reports using tools such as Power BI
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support operational decision making
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting workflows and financial reporting


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, including cost accounting and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software in a business or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting platforms such as Power BI
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in manufacturing accounting or cost accounting in a production environment
  • Familiarity with financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Knowledge of data visualization, business intelligence tools, and KPI reporting
  • Experience improving accounting systems, workflows, and automation processes
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus
  • Experience supporting audits and internal controls compliance initiatives
