We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented Accountant to join the Business Office of a respected educational institution. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounts receivable, billing, collections, reconciliation, and general accounting experience who can also communicate with professionalism, discretion, and judgment.


The ideal candidate is a polished accounting professional who enjoys working in a detail-driven environment and understands the importance of professional communication. This person can manage billing and receivables accurately, follow up on account issues appropriately, and represent the organization well when interacting with clients, families, internal departments, and leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable, billing, payments, credits, reconciliations, and account follow-up.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, families, internal departments, and leadership regarding billing questions, balances, payment arrangements, and account issues.
  • Prepare monthly AR reconciliations, aging reports, credit memo reports, payment schedules, and related financial reporting.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, account credits, and collection-related matters.
  • Support general accounting functions, including sales tax reporting, credit card transaction review, vendor setup, account reconciliations, month-end close, and audit documentation.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager and finance leadership on reporting, analysis, process improvement, and special projects.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, accounts receivable, billing, collections, reconciliations, or related finance support.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, account analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with discretion and judgment.
