Location: Fairfield County, CT
As a Client Account Executive at Northwestern Mutual, you will serve as both a relationship manager and strategic advisor—helping clients build, protect, and grow their financial future. This role combines the consultative, client-facing responsibilities of a financial advisor with the business development and account management focus of a traditional account executive.
You will develop your own portfolio of clients, deliver tailored financial strategies, and drive long-term client success through proactive relationship management and ongoing financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Acquisition & Business Development
- Identify, prospect, and acquire new clients through networking, referrals, and community engagement
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospective clients, maintaining consistent outreach and follow-up
- Develop strategic partnerships and centers of influence to expand your client base
Account Management & Relationship Development
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building long-term, trust-based relationships
- Conduct regular client reviews to assess financial progress and evolving goals
- Deliver a high-touch client experience focused on retention, satisfaction, and referrals
- Act as a trusted advisor across multiple life stages and financial milestones
Financial Strategy & Advisory
- Analyze clients’ financial situations, goals, and risk tolerance
- Develop customized financial plans that may include:
- Investment and portfolio strategies
- Retirement planning
- Risk management and insurance solutions
- Wealth accumulation and distribution strategies
- Present recommendations clearly and guide clients through decision-making
Account Growth & Revenue Expansion
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through additional services and solutions
- Maintain and grow assets under management and overall client value
- Track performance metrics, including client growth, retention, and revenue goals
Collaboration & Expertise
- Partner with internal specialists (investments, insurance, estate, and tax planning) to deliver comprehensive solutions
- Stay current on market trends, financial products, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Business, or related field preferred)
- 1–5 years experience in sales, account management, client services, or financial services
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to build relationships and manage client accounts
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong self-motivation and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships and priorities
Preferred:
- Experience in B2B/B2C sales or account executive roles
- Interest in financial planning, investments, or wealth management
- FINRA licenses (Series 6, 7, 63/65) and/or Life/Health licenses (or willingness to obtain)
